Life Update/ Instagram Round Up!

Hey ya'll! I feel like this past week has been the longest week ever! Some of you may not know but I recently moved to Kansas to attend University.  I have officially been  moved in 2 for weeks  and I feel like I am settling in well. College life is definitely different than life back at home, but I have made a lot of great friends and am loving this college town! Even though my room is small and not as elaborately decorated as some dorm rooms, I thought I would show you all a sneak peak at my desk and how I organize it. I am planning on doing a whole post about inexpensive and easy ways to make your dorm room more spacious and feel more like home!
All my drawers and upright organizers I found at Target in the dollar isle! My makeup brush holders are also from Target in the same isle.  My makeup mirror is from Walmart, and my beloved lamp is from amazon.  I also have to give a huge shout out to my Lilly Pulitzer agenda. There are so many more things to balance in college besides classes, and my planner is the number one reason I have been able to stay on top of everything!
My agenda is the Lilly Pulitzer 2016-2017 Tusks in the Sun Jumbo sized planner, you can purchase it here
Since this is kind of a two in one blog post I also wanted to give you all an update on whats been going on my Instagram! You can follow me here! My two recent pictures have been some sneak peaks at a fall look book coming very soon!  I am also collaborating with some awesome bloggers along the way! Check out my Instagram to see who I collabed with this week!

Now it just has to cool down a little bit in Kansas so I can start wearing some cute fall clothes! Who's with me?
Thank you all for joining me in this more informal blog post!  I hope everyone has a great beginning of fall, whether you are headed back to school or work!

Preppy Girl Tag!

Since I call myself "Pinky and the Prep" I thought it was only appropriate to do the Preppy Girl Tag!

I hope you all enjoy, and if you think that you're preppy, try the tag!!
1. Your definition of preppy?
I think preppy is classic clothing, always put together and classy!
2. What's your favorite brand?
Well above all has to be Lilly Pulitzer, but that's not my wallets favorite! I also love Tommy Hilfiger and of course all the southern brand like Vineyard Vines and Simply Southern.
3. What's your favorite Lilly print?
Tusk in the Sun
4. J. Crew or Sperry
Sperry
5. Opinion on Oxfords?
I think the shirts are adorable, although I do not own one, and I am not sure if I could pull one off.
6. Duck Boots, Ridding boots, or Hunters?
For day to day I would have to pick ridding boots! But duck boots are a close close second.
7. Navy or Black?
Navy all the way!!
8. On a scale of 1-10, how much do you love J. Crew?
I feel like this is going to be an unpopular answer, but I don't shop there much.. so I'll have to give it a 6.
9. Favorite Ralph Lauren item?
Oddly enough, their jeans are my favorite! They are so soft and super flattering!
10. Pearls or Bows?
Pearls!

Summer Essentials!

Thankfully, summer has come! The sun is shinning, the temperature is rising, and school is out! In honor of the new season, I though I would share some of my must haves for summer.

  1. First up is something I couldn't live without, Sunnies! A cute pair of sunglasses is a staple in my wardrobe.  Forever 21, Charming Charlies, Gliks, and Target are my favorite places to pick up cute and affordable shades.

  2. Next on my list is a good sea salt spray.  During the summer, I don't want to put heat on my hair, but I also still want to look put together.  That's where sea salt spray comes in handy! It adds body, volume, and looks like you just jumped out of the ocean! My new favorite sea salt spray in from Not Your Mothers.  It can be found at Target, Ulta and most drugstores.
  3. Third on the list is a no brainier... a cute swim suit! Whether its a tankini, bikini, or one piece, a cute swim suit is a must!  There are tons of cuts and style that will flatter every body type. This  one was snatched up at Victoria's Secret semi annual sale.

  4.  Next up is a trend I have been obsessing over! Contorting and highlighting. It seems like every time I walk into Ulta or Sephora I see tons of new bronzing products! Some of my very favorites are the Tantalizer  Duo from Lorac, the Urban Decay  Naked Flushed Pallet, and MAC's Soft and Gentle Highlighter.  Some drug store favorites are NYC's Sunny bronzer and Wet and Wild highlighter.  And of course you have to pair your beautiful bronzed skin with a vibrant lip! These melted lip sticks from Two Faced are very long lasting and perfect for summer!
  5.  A cute cover up goes hand in hand with a cute swim suit! I love a cover up for walking along the beach, or hanging out around the pool. I picked this up this one from the Lilly For Target collection by Lilly Pulitzer! Its lightweight, vibrant, and extremely comfortable!
  6.  Before you put your cover up on, you'll need to towel off.  Why not do that in style as well?!  I bought my towel from the Lilly For Target collection as well.  Its big enough to lay on at the beach, and wrap your self up after a late night swim!
  7. Another essential for a day at the pool or on the lake is some croakies and koozies.  I bought both of mine at Dillards.  I love Lilly Pulitzer for summer! Her prints are vibrant and always a great statement!
  8.  Next on the list is a ball cap.  Ball caps are the perfect disguise for a bad hair day! Not to mention they are super cute and sporty! I got mine from Marley Lilly! And like they say " If it doesn't move... monogram it!"
  9. Now that our wardrobe is all ready for summer,  it is time for us to smell like summer! Some of my favorite body products for summer are a fruity body butter to keep your skin smooth and silky, a delicious smelling body spray, and a Lush bath bomb to keep you smelling amazing!
  10.  And of course we can't forget about your house and car! I love these Bath and Body Works room sprays! I got them at the B&BW semi annual sale for 50% off! They add a summery smell to any room! And we can't forget about summery candles! B&BW also has a huge selection of candles that will fit anyone's tastes!
  11. And last on my list is a reliable pair of sandals.  This summer I have been obsessed with my Jack Rogers. I have worn them almost every day! They are practical, cute, and comfortable!
Thank you so much for letting me share my summer essentials with you! I hope everyone's summer is filled with sunshine, good times, and amazing memories!

An In Depth Tour of my Lilly Pulitzer Agenda

I got a request, right after I published my tips for a successful second semester, to do a more in depth look as to how I organize my planner. I was thrilled to know that some of you were interested and I hope that my methods of organizing my life are helpful! I would love to hear your guy's tips as well!! Enjoy!

First and foremost, here is a little backround on my agenda.
This is the large Lilly Pulitzer adgenda that covers August 2014- December 2015. The large size is perfect for my day to day use! It it smaller that the average folder and note book, so it fits easily in my back pack and my purse.  It is also big enough that I have space to write as much as I please!

The first part of this adgenda that I use is the monthly view. This shows the whole month on two pages.  Here I write important things that I need to know for that month, like birthdays, due dates of big projects, competitions, ect.
At the beginning of the academic year I assign each class a color. This color is the same color as the note book and folder I use in the class. Which ever color folder it is, I will use the same color pen. That way, in my planner I can just write "test" on that day instead of writing "American literature test." This way I know as soon as I look at it what class I'm dealing with. For example when it says "test" in green I automatically know I have a physics test. Next I assign all my after school activities and out of school activities a color. I use different colors for theses just so it is easier to see them next to my class's colors.
For example the piano lessons that I take are written in purple. The after school activities that involve the school I write in our school colors, orange and black. I also use stickers to highlight extra important dates. The music notes symbolize important band related activities like auditions and competitions. The Stars symbolize non band related special events like homecoming and parties!

The weekly view is next. This is two pages devoted to one week. The week days have bigger spaces, and Saturday and Sunday are smaller.
Again, the color coding still applies to these pages. I write my classes down I the order that I have them each day. This makes it really easy for my to come home, flip open my planner,
And know exactly what homework I need to accomplish that night.
Here is an up close look at my schedule for Monday. Once I've completed what ever needs to be done for that night I put a check mark next to it. This keeps a visual tally going on what I need to get done.

I always love to stick sticky notes to my weekly view to remind my self of tasks I need to accomplish that week. This includes chores, homework that will take more than a day to complete, projects, and practicing.
I also put the date at the top of my to do list to remind my self of the time frame I have to complete it.

I hope you enjoyed a walk through of my planner organization and how I like to keep myself on task! Thank you so much for reading it and I hope you found my way of organizing my planner helpful! Please feel free to leave me any tips that you think are essential to keeping an organized agenda!!

Until next time,
Julie
